Admissions
We take great pleasure in connecting with young people passionate about science, technology and mathematics, as well as the supportive families who encourage their interests.
With The Academy's commitment to small class sizes, only 20 students will be selected for enrolment at each year level.
We will soon be accepting enrolments for Year 7 to Year 9 students for the 2027 school year and onwards. Please feel free to contact us if you would like to be added to our mailing list and stay informed about when applications open and the contruction progress of the school.
Apply
Upon submitting the application form, families will be promptly acknowledged in writing, and their child will be placed in our applicant waitlist. Enrolments are considered when the completed application form and payment of the application fee are received. Applications are accepted throughout the academic year.
Interview
Each applicant will undergo an individual assessment by the senior leadership team, and those selected for the next stage will be scheduled for an interview with the Principal. When reviewing applications for entrance interview selection, The Academy takes into consideration the following:
- Students and families with the closest alignment to The Academy's guiding principles;
- Students who demonstrate a love of learning, curiosity, excellent character, significant interest or proficiency in an area of science or technology;
- Affiliation to The Academy through staff, current and past siblings;
- Time spent on waitlist, with priority given to those who applied first.
Above all else, your child will need to demonstrate a strong commitment to learning in order to be offered a place at The Academy.
Prior to the interview you will be asked to submit the following supplementary documentation:
- A copy of the applicant's latest school report.
- A completed Health / Medical Record, together with information (including copies of assessments) regarding any special education needs such as cognitive learning disorders or challenges.
- A copy of the applicant's NZ birth certificate.
- If the applicant was not born in New Zealand, they will need to provide evidence of their eligibility to study in New Zealand by providing their passport together with any visas issued by Immigration New Zealand.
- A copy of the student's biography form (to be supplied on receipt of the application), completed in their own handwriting.
- Applicants may include any other additional information that they believe may assist the school in reaching a decision about their application.
