This school holidays, students can spend a day at The Academy learning the fundamentals of programming and electronics through practical, challenging projects.
Students will learn to program in C++ using Arduino microcontrollers, then apply their new skills to building working electronic devices using sensors, displays and other components.
No previous programming or electronics experience is required. The course is designed for curious students who enjoy mathematics, technology, problem-solving and making things.
Places are limited to nine students.
Held on site at The Academy
For the first time, our school holiday programming and electronics course will be held at The Academy’s site at 70 Hilling Street, Titirangi.
Students will experience the practical, academically ambitious and highly supported approach to learning that sits at the heart of our school.
An electronics kit to keep
Every student receives their own comprehensive electronics kit, programmable microcontroller, project manual and portable carry case. The kit contains dozens of sensors and components that can be used for further projects at home.
Laptops are provided during the course. Students will also receive clear instructions for installing the Arduino programming software on a home computer so they can continue experimenting after the course.
